The G3 style set the basic design for View-Master packets until the introduction of blisterpack packaging. Subsequent designs from GAF and View-Master International through the early 1980s introduced only minor variations to the basic format of the G3 packet.

Three elements comprised approximately the top 20% of the packet's cover. The lower-case GAF logo was placed in the top left corner and the slogan "21 Stereo Pictures" appeared immediately to the right. Below both, a general subject category was set in white letters on a narrow colored band spanning the cover. Each subject category was assigned a specific color:

black BIBLE STORIES
fuchsia CARTOON FAVORITES
purple CLASSIC TALES
yellow DIMENSIONAL LEARNING SERIES
sepia OLD-TIME STEREO
teal SPORTS ACTION
orange SHOWTIME
red UNITED STATES TRAVEL
green THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY
olive WORLD OF SCIENCE
blue WORLD TRAVEL

A full-color photograph or montage occupied the remaining area of the cover; the packet title was superimposed upon the image. The back of the envelope was unchanged from the preceding G2 style.

Subsequent G4, G5, and G6 packet variants retained the layout of the G3 design and varied only in details found at the top front of the envelope and on the lower flap of the envelope's back:

G4

G4 top front (27k) Top front:
upper-case GAF logo.
G4 bottom flap (32k) Bottom rear flap:
upper-case GAF logo; corporate address left of center.

G5

G5 top front (27k) Top front:
identical to G4 variant.
G5 bottom flap (27k) Bottom rear flap:
corporate address centered.

G6

G6 top front (27k) Top front:
new View-Master logo; "3D" replaces "Stereo" in slogan.
G6 bottom flap (32k) Bottom rear flap:
centered corporate address with new View-Master logo; "3D" replaces "Stereo."

Booklets were frequently provided in G3 packets, probably for more titles than in any other period of packet-based marketing. Booklets became less common in G4, G5, and G6 packets. As booklet production diminished, a given title/variant may have been issued with or without a booklet depending on available inventory; G3-G6 packets are known to have been issued without booklets even when the envelope indicated the inclusion of a booklet.

(Differences in the G4, G5, and G6 variants are so negligible that many collectors, dealers, and auctioneers make no distinction among them. Since these serve as sources for the V-M URL, "G4-G6" often appears in the List in lieu of a more specific description.)
