DR reels were never sold by View-Master, but given away to promote sales.
ViewMaster DR Reels - Demonstrator Reels In the early 1950s, View-Master dealers gave them away to prospective customers. Some reels were also used in special multi-media promotions, such as the DR-8 (Pinky Lee). Later in the 1960s, the DR reels were inserted in each viewer that was sold. Even today, a demonstrator reel is sold with each viewer but the DR designation on the reel is no longer used.
Many collectors like to collect as many as possible of these demonstrator reels, starting with DR-1.
Our View-Master vintage reels come with the appropriate sleeve and are in excellent condition, unless noted. This means there are no ring marks, no soiling, no bubbling, no bowing - all reels are collector grade. We take pride in offering the best to you.
